FOSS Dairy Seminar in South Africa presented hot topics in the dairy industry
A well-received seminar was held in connection with the World Dairy Summit 2012 in Cape Town, South Africa, on Monday November 5th. Key speakers from the industry explored cutting edge industry solutions and marketing strategies in modern dairy analysis.
Dr. Steve Holroyd from Fonterra Research Centre, New Zealand opened the seminar with a talk about on-line milk measurement using global calibrations and the benefits that can be achieved from enhanced process control.
Other key speakers such as Marketing Director Louis Loubser, representing Fair Cape Dairies, South Africa as well as FOSS representatives Tony Maddison and Jesper Kruse gave valuable insights into marketing strategies, infrared technology and future analytical solutions for the dairy industry.
The evening was rounded off with a Wine Tasting event giving participants an opportunity to meet and exchange experiences. The wine presentation and tasting session was led by local winemaker Gerhard Hempies du Toit, with an introduction to the well known wines from Annandale vineyard, regarded as some of South Africa’s finest.
All in all, the seminar was well received by a select crowd of industry representatives from South Africa, New Zealand, Uruguay, Denmark and Latvia that took part in a productive evening, dedicated to exploring and exchanging knowledge about the newest trends in the fast-changing dairy industry.
