NIR 2013 a successful prelude to NIR 2017 Copenhagen
FOSS was a platinum sponsor at the NIR 2013 - 16th International Conference on Near Infrared Spectroscopy 2 - 7 June 2013 - 34280 La Grande-Motte, France.
Experts in all aspects of near infrared spectroscopy gathered to explore how the already widely-used technology can be further exploited for a range of applications in food, agri and other industries.
The event was highly successful and well-attended. As a platinum sponsor FOSS gave presentations on variable selection and Gaussian Process Regression accompanied by a poster session on Determining when NIR is Better than its Reference Method. A pre-programme calibration training session gave around 20 delegates more insight into calibration and discrimination through a hands-on session run by experts Dr. L. Nørgaard & M. Westerhaus, FOSS and with presentations from Pierre Dardenne from CRA-W and Martin Andersson, FOSS.
A social event held at a local yacht club attracted around 400 guests enjoying FOSS hospitality and some interesting perspectives from NIR and chemometrics expert, Harald Martens.
NIR 2017 Copenhagen
As reported by NIR news on twitter, Copenhagen has been chosen to host the international conference in 2017. Before that Brazil will host the NIR 2015 conference.
FOSS chemometrics department manager Lars Nørgaard said : "The 2013 conference showed just how much developments and applications with NIR analytical technology are accellerating. We are delighted that the conference in 2017 will be held on our doorstep very close to the FOSS innovation centre. We have already started preparing and I am sure that we’ll have some interesting developments to discuss."
